U.S. and Colombian Air Forces strengthen cooperative relations

During the official visit to the United States of America, General Ramses Rueda Rueda, Commander of the Colombian Air Force (FAC), held high-level bilateral meetings with General Charles Brown, Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force (USAF), and Lieutenant General Joseph Guastella, Chief of Operations of the USAF, strengthening cooperative relations, reiterating the permanent commitment to peace and increased security conditions in the hemisphere.

Within the framework of these meetings, the importance of strengthening the levels of interoperability through the participation in exercises under international standards was highlighted, which will allow facing the different threats through a combined work between the Forces.

Similarly, meetings were held with Major General John Gordy II, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs and the Director of the Agency for Security and Defense Cooperation, Heidy Grant, where the leadership of the FAC in the fight against drug trafficking at regional level, through the leadership of aerial interdiction operations, was reiterated.

Finally, General Rueda met with General John Raymond, Chief of Space Operations of the United States, with the aim of building the foundations to achieve cooperation in the space area between both nations, and identify opportunities to generate research, training and exchange of experiences, in order to enhance Colombia’s aerospace capabilities.
