Also captured in this operation was alias Compi, who was allegedly in charge of the security of alias Flechas, the main leader of this organized armed group.
Thanks to the joint, coordinated and inter-institutional work of the National Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, the capture of the subject known by the alias of ‘Pipe gordo’ or ‘Pipe pipón’, alleged head of illegal finances and second leader of the Organized Armed Group Los Caparros, in Bajo Cauca Antioqueño, was achieved in the village of El Guamal in the village of Piamonte, municipality of Cáceres.
This individual is allegedly in charge of collecting illicit rents in the villages of Puerto Bélgica, Jardín de Tamaná and Guarumo in the municipality of Cáceres. This important leader of GAO Caparros is also accused of controlling the criminal drug trafficking chain and the illegal exploitation of mining deposits, especially in the municipalities of Tarazá and Cáceres, in Bajo Cauca Antioquia.
Alias Pipe Pipón, who was the brother-in-law of alias Caín (until recently the top leader of this criminal structure, killed during military operations in mid-November 2020), is alleged to have given orders to carry out violent actions against the inhabitants of these villages, causing forced displacements, as well as multiple cases of selective assassinations.
Alias Flechas, after the arrest of alias Evangélico on April 19 of this year, allegedly delegated to alias Pipe Pipón the reorganization of armed groups in the rural area of Cáceres, with the objective of stopping the advance of the GAO Clan del Golfo, due to the territorial dispute for controlling the mobility corridors for drug trafficking, as well as the illicit rents resulting from extortions and the illegal exploitation of mining deposits, mainly.
According to the authorities, this individual had a criminal record of more than 10 years in illegal groups. This operation was carried out in response to early warning No. 045 of 2020, issued by the Ombudsman’s Office.
This result constitutes a significant impact against the criminal leadership of GAO Caparros, affecting its logistical, financial and armed chain in Bajo Cauca Antioquia and southern Córdoba department.
